The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Saturday felicitated the newly-elected President Zubair Tufail, Senior Vice President Aamer Ata Bajwa and body members of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI).

"Not only the winners but participants also deserve greetings for becoming part of a democratic process and also for ensuring a pleasant atmosphere for the FPCCI elections", said LCCI president Abdul Basit in a statement on Saturday. Sweeping of all important FPCCI seats with a thumping majority clearly reflects the confidence of business community in judicious policies being followed by the group leadership, he said.

He said that credit of historic success goes to the top leadership of the group for working day and night for the betterment and welfare of the business community and hoped that FPCCI President-elect Zubair Tufail and other office-bearers would take up the issues of high tariff of energy prices, high cost of doing business, widening trade deficit and decline in exports with government for survival of economy. The FPCCI leadership as usual will continue to attach its priority to the prompt solution of collective problems and issues being confronted by the business community, he added.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) chief executive officer Mian Kashif Ashfaq also congratulated the Trade Development Authority Pakistan's chief executive and patron-in-chief of the United Business Group S M Munir, Chairman United Business Group (UBG) Iftikhar Ali Malik, newly elected President FPCCI Zubair Tufail for making clean sweep in the FOCCI elections through a democratic process for the year 2017.

Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) Chief Executive Mian Kashif Ashfaq said that UBG has introduced a merit based election system and true democratic culture in the business politics and hoped that high profile new leadership of federation would bring forward highly competent business professionals to lead the apex trade body. He also felicitated Zubair Tufail on being elected with majority vote as the president of FPCCI and appreciated the wisdom of UBG leadership for nominating a distinguished business leader for this esteemed position.

He was optimistic that under the leadership of Zubair Tufail, FPCCI would become a stronger apex trade body to better serve Pakistan's business and economic interests. He assured that PFC would extend its full cooperation to new leadership of FPCCI and UBG in efforts aimed at resolving the issues of trade and industry and promoting the interests of private sector.
